We Hear You: Telecommunications Packaging

SIM Card Packaging
Telecommunications SIM card

Telecommunication packaging is more than a shipping container for your SIM card. Telecommunication technology has become indispensable with our communication. Without phone signal and wireless internet connection; phones, laptops, computers, data and the various applications on our phone that we use for connecting to each other would not work. The world as we know it wouldn’t be possible.

To say that telecommunications are necessary is the understatement of the century; literally. In just a decade communication has changed, grown and altered beyond recognition – and we’re certain that in the next ten years we’ll see huge changes as the sector continues to evolve.

So, with changing communication channels there are also changes that are necessary in packaging to keep up with the needs of consumers.

The value of telecommunication services worldwide is €1,131 billion – and the value is growing. Global telecommunications spending reached $1,553 billion in 2020. The market revenue as shares in North America of telecommunication services is 54.2%

2.9 billion people are still offline, 96% of those people live in developing countries. 62% of internet users in developed countries are men compared to 57% of women. 19% of users in underdeveloped countries are women, compared to 31% of men. The number of mobile connections worldwide is 7.66 billion. As well as a geographical and gender gap there is also a generational gap with 71% of internet users being classed as ‘youth’ within the age group of 15-24 years old. This means that – analyzing the statistics – the telecommunication markets are geared towards young, male users who are in developed countries.

This means that when choosing packaging, your company has to choose depending on the market which you want to target. Your target audience also includes geographically where your product will be sold, who will be in the stores or online and which reaction you want to get. 70% of consumers make purchase decisions based on the packaging of a product and your packaging will make all of the difference.

The table below shows the growth of the global packaging market from 2021 to 2026 and where it is estimated to grow the most. The growth of consumer demand will in turn accelerate the growth of the packaging industry.
